Derwent Symphony Orchestra Inc. (DSO) was established in 1974 and has been playing and performing ever since with a diverse range of players, both in age and background.
Our repertoire boasts a broad variety of upper intermediate and advanced compositions, which allows us to combine with other Tasmanian orchestras and bands to perform together from time to time.
We offer affordable concerts, usually four times a year, which often feature brilliant young or amateur soloists who rarely have the opportunity to perform with a full symphony orchestra.
Rehearsals
The DSO rehearses at 7:30 pm most Monday nights.
We are currently seeking violin, viola, low brass (trombone, bass trombone and tuba) and percussion players. If you are interested in joining the orchestra, please contact us by email:

Rehearsals are held in the Polish Hall at the back of the Polish Club in New Town. Please enter via the Clare Street entry as the entry is locked on New Town Road side.
